Easy DIY Setup

The most important element of our chicken feeder and chicken watering systems is that you can install the parts onto just about any container. Using our 75-millimeter hole saw, you can install our feeder ports onto a 55-gallon drum or use the drill bit we send to install our waterer nipples. We will also send you a 21-millimeter hole saw to install our float valve if you want to automate your chicken coop watering. For everything you need outside, a power drill is sent to complete the installation. Except for an optional deburring tool, you can use it to remove the bur left from either of the hole saws.

For a small flock, the 55-gallon barrel would only need to be refilled once or twice to last an entire season, eliminating the need to go out every day to refill chicken feed or water. Every DIY kit includes instructions and all the tools needed to install the kit in any container you choose. If you have any questions, you can contact us by phone or email, and our customer service team will be happy to help!

Our Automatic Chicken Watering System

DIY chicken waterer

If you attach our watering nipples to a 55-gallon drum, you can manually fill a huge container once every couple of months. Alternatively, you can choose our automatic watering system and never have to fill your watering container again!

Our watering system for Chickens includes nipples which reduces water waste and prevents chickens from pooping in their own drinking supply. These nipples on our system let out a little bit of water whenever the mechanism in the front is pushed, giving the chickens water whenever they are pressed. The red color on the nipples attracts the chickens to try pecking it, so it's not difficult to train them to use the technology. This comes with a few benefits:

  1. No chicken poop in their water supply.
  2. No water waste from the water splashing out of the trough.
  3. No routine cleaning or management of your water supply.

Our pre-assembled coop waterer or DIY kit includes a float valve and all the fittings required to connect your watering container to a garden spigot! That way, the float valve will constantly regulate how much water comes in, and you can just leave the spigot on 24-7. This means you will never have to worry if your chickens get enough water, and you can be assured they are cared for. No more worrying on vacation about your flock's water needs or hiring some teenager who charges way too much to change your water.

Winterizing your chicken coop

Winterized coop

Here at Thirsty Earth, we oppose time-wasting and unnecessary chicken chores. Our online store offers an incredible solution for freezing chicken water daily! In case you were wondering how we could help your coop chores remain effortless during the winter, we have a utility de-icer that will keep your water thawed all winter!

Along with automated watering for your coop, you can pair that with a utility de-icer, which will prevent the awful trip outside every day to break up the ice and refill your water!

While we don't supply anything for this trick, we have a little chicken secret for you. You can prevent snow and cold winds from entering your coop by wrapping your chicken wire with clear shower curtains or thick greenhouse plastic. As long as you leave enough open for ventilation, this will prevent winter fatalities and support your chicken's health during the winter!

Consistent feeding and watering all year!
